A "NEW STAR IS BORN”: Lisboa Long Distance International Triathlon becomes TriStar111 Lisboa
“As a sports event organization it has been one of our major goals to provide all levels of athletes and spectators with new excitement, new challenges and new situations, discover new race sites and to try out new experiences.”

It is with great pleasure that we announce that the Lisboa International Triathlon becomes TriStar111 Lisboa. S4a, the company behind the organization of the Lisbon Triathlon that has brought the sport to this capital for the first time in 2006, has partnered with Star Events, in order to provide a high quality triathlon in Portugal.

Since year one the Lisbon International Triathlon has been sold out. 18% of the athletes returned for each and every edition, over 70% came back for more than two editions and 85% have done more than one edition of that race. These numbers are the greatest testimonial of a very successful event that is only 4 years old!

Now a new era starts in Lisbon. The Lisboa Triathon becomes a member of the TriStar event series and will cover a total distance of 111km on 24 April 2010. The name of the race changes to TriStar111 Lisboa.

“It is our goal as a professional organization to find ways to improve our events in any way we can. Our first concern has always been the athletes no matter if they are professional or ‘first comers’”, says Paulo Passos Leite, CEO of S4a, the organizer of the Lisboa Triathlon. “Talking to athletes over the years we have found out that the space for a new format needed to be filled, we just didn't know how. After the first meeting with the Star Events team and after finding out about the new international event series, we knew we found what we were looking for.”

The organizers and Star Events have many things in common, first of all the love for the sport. Like Star Events staff, the organizers of TriStar111 Lisboa are also passionate about sports in general and triathlon in particular. Their objective is to translate the know-how and love for the sport into a better and bigger quality event for all our previous and new participants. Many new improved details to the race and some very pleasant surprises are to be discovered in the TriStar111 Lisboa event. Registration is open to previous participants, and will open to all other participants on 20 August 2009 on www.tristar111lisboa.cc.
